| Sebastian is a band member of the former band ‘Sanguma’ who was renowned internationally for the way they combined traditional and modern Papua New Guinea tunes and instruments. When Sebastian returned to the community after having travelled internationally he had to take on certain leadership roles, including the role of the burial man. Sebastian shares the story of the process of dealing with a death in the community and the need to negotiate both traditional and contemporary interpretations, including sorcery and witchcraft beliefs. |
